Providence Hospitals Board of Trustees approved a $38.4 million plan for enhancing orthopedic care and general medical services through expansions and renovations at Providence Hospital Northeast. The project is expected to expand the facility by adding 38 new beds and provide estimated 75-100 additional employment opportunities.
Construction plans will include significant renovations and new construction to both the main hospital building and the adjacent office building.
New construction will include an energy plant, an added MRI service, a new main entrance and canopy, along with an expansion of the front lobby, PACU and central sterile processing. Areas to be renovated on the first floor include emergency, pre-op/recovery, surgery, central sterile and admissions departments. Patient care areas on the third floor will also renovated.
“We are focused on growing our facility to meet the needs of our community,” said Ryan Hall, Vice President of Providence Hospital Northeast. “This project is not only a significant investment that will expand our ability to provide excellent orthopaedic care and continue to strengthen general medical services, but will also provide jobs for people who live here.”
Providence’s senior leadership selected Carolinas-based KBR Building Group to provide construction services, which account for $14 million of the project planned for the Providence Hospital Northeast building.
Construction is expected to begin in mid-March 2012.
