Deputies have arrested one man they believe is responsible for the theft of a large quantity of lottery tickets from a Blythewood convenience store last month.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said 19-year-old Troy Belton was taken into custody at his Bay Springs Road home on Wednesday.
Belton has been charged with burglary, larceny, and possession of burglary tools.
The incident happened just after 3:30 a.m on August 8 at the Blythewood Stop and Shop, located at 10447 Wilson Boulevard.
The suspects broke into the business by breaking the window of the front door.
They can been seen on surveillance video stealing an undetermined number of South Carolina Education Lottery tickets. Both suspects were wearing masks and gloves. One of the suspects was wearing a backpack.
After grabbing the tickets, they left the area on foot.
Belton was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Lott said the Camden Police Department has placed a hold on Belton for crimes he may have committed in their jurisdiction.
Lott asks that anyone with information on the identity of the other suspect or information about the crime should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
