The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is trying to locate a man they say has robbed at least two convenience stores in the past couple of weeks. In one of the incidents, he showed the clerk a gun and a badge and said he was a police officer.
Deputies said the unknown man robbed the Kangaroo Express located at 8200 Two Notch Road around 10:44 a.m. on September 13.
The robber entered the store and pretended to purchase a drink. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man pushed the clerk's hand aside and grabbed the money and fled.
Cameras inside the store captured the incident.
Deputies believe that same man went into a convenience store in the Dentsville area on September 24 and said that he was investigating a counterfeit $50 bill. Investigators say the man, who was dressed in a University of South Carolina football jersey, showed the clerk a gun, a badge, and a radio and said he needed $200 for "bribe money."
The clerk gave the suspect the money.
The suspect is described to be 6’0” tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black and white hat, striped blue, yellow, and white shirt, dark colored shorts, with a facial beard and puffy hair.
If you have any information about these crimes or can identify the man in the photos, you are urged to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
