Deputies: Carjacking suspect leads police on chase | News
COLUMBIA (WIS) - A Richland County man was carjacked Thursday night as he was pulling into his driveway, according to Richland County deputies.
A spokesperson with the department says the incident happened on Old Brass Dr. as the victim was pulling into his driveway. That is near Clemson road and I-20. The victim says the armed suspect demanded the man's car and took off.
The sheriff's department says the car was then spotted around 1:30 Friday morning by the Columbia Police Department on Columbia College Drive. According to the sheriff's department, a chase ensued.
The chase ended less than a mile away when the suspects wrecked the car at the intersection of Monticello Rd. and Enzer Ave., according to the sheriff's department. The K-9 unit from the sheriff's department was called in and they were able to arrest one of the suspects near the scene. A second suspect got away.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Savoyy Woodard and he is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. His charges include possession of a stolen vehicle.
Deputies have not released an identity on the second suspect.
