Tips lead to 2 drug arrests and drug seizures | Crime
BLYTHEWOOD, SC (WIS) - Richland County Sheriff's deputies say tips from the community led to a pair of drug-related arrests this week.
On Tuesday, deputies arrested 32-year-old Travis Gibbs on charges of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute near a school and breach of peace. Sheriff Leon Lott said investigators got a tip about drugs in an apartment in the 1500 block of Garden Plaza, in the Gonzales Gardens community.
While serving a search warrant at the apartment, deputies say they found crack cocaine and marijuana inside. As he was being arrested, Sheriff Lott said Gibbs used profanity and caused a disturbance.
And acting on a tip about illegal drug activity at a home on Irish Court in Blythewood, officers with the Community Action Team went to the house Wednesday and found marijuana plants growing in the back yard. Deputies say they searched the home and found plant growing materials, marijuana plants and 900 grams of marijuana.
Deputies arrested 22-year-old Nathaniel Benard Scott Jr. on charges of manufacturing and possession of marijuana.
Scott and Gibbs were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
